Welcome to Robotics!

In the Robotics Branch of the JFK Tech Association, we hold various workshops and work in teams to build robots. Robotics is the intersection of computer science and engineering, and we focus on designing, building, programming, and operating robots. Over the course of the last few years, we have gathered many new robotics resources, including thousands of dollars of new equipment. That equipment is used for our existing activities, but if anyone who would like to experiment or build independently can do so by talking to one of us. This experimentation has led to some of our best new ideas and projects!

Activities We Do

- VEX Robotics (ex. Build-A-Clawbot workshops, VEX Challenge)
- GoBilda workshops: equipment that allows for more flexible building (ex. Catapults)
- Learn design process + CAD (Computer-Aided Design)
- Building remote-controlled and autonomous cars
- Workshops tailored for visually impaired students (reach out to us if you are interested in our bi-weekly meetings)

Sample Question

Q: When landing a plane, the plane suddenly lost control just before touching the ground, why?

A: Wing tip stall, when at slow speeds and at a high angle of attack, planes enter a stall where the control surfaces are no longer acting to adjust the plane. Usually this leads to one wing generating more lift than the other and forcing the plane into an uncontrollable roll.
